Hopkins vs. Dawson Showdown October 15th

Bernard Hopkins, WBC and Ring Magazine light heavyweight champion is scheduled to fight Chad Dawson (30-1-0, 17 KOs) in a 12-round WBC light heavyweight title fight at the Staples Center in Los Angeles, California on Saturday, October 15, 2011 on HBO PPV. Hopkins at 46 years old is the oldest fighter in boxing history to win a world title. Dawson, age 29 has wanted a fight with Hopkins for years. Hopkins is coming off a unanimous decision win in May 2011 over Jean Pascal whom Dawson lost to by technical decision in August 2010. 

Bernard Hopkins is the longest reigning middleweight title holder and also holds the distinction of most successful title defenses as a middleweight champion, a record setting 20 times. In 2001 Hopkins was awarded Ring Magazine Fighter of The Year and World Boxing Hall of Fame Fighter of the Year. Not to mention the pride of Philadelphia.
